THE ONLY THING OUR BIBLE HAS IS PREDESTINATION

This was a statement made towards me by some well-meaning brethren.  They meant no harm in it.  But it indicated a lack of understanding of the vast implications of a belief in the absolute predestination of God. We doubt they would view predestination in dire times of need, afflictions, and persecution as a side issue or a doctrine that can be overstated.

Actually, we rejoiced in this statement, since we consider (as do the Scriptures) predestination to be the central doctrine of the entire book.  This means that in the eyes of those brethren, I was seen as one who held this high view of this doctrine.  Of course, what they meant is that I had an unbalanced view as to the centrality and importance of the doctrine of absolute predestination.

Eternal Vital Union Is Dependent On Absolute Predestination
We could not have been eternally children if the act of salvation had not been decreed by an almighty God from before time (if such a thing can be conceived).

The Book Of Life Containing The Exact Number Of The Elect of God Before The Foundation Demands Absolute Predestination
This book, written in "eternity past", contained all the names of the elect.

It is the only Doctrine that Gives ALL the Glory to God
Since there are no other forces in the universe (whether creaturely or non-sentient) that make anything happen except for God, he gets all the glory.

Every Sin Of The Elect Had To be Previously Determined Before Christ Could Die For them
God foreordained every sin every creature does.  For his people, every sin was paid for.  He experienced punishment for every particular sin of his people.  This could have only happened if every sin was part of God's determinate counsel.  Christ's death was not a general atonement, nor a forensic atonement.  In a book titled The Legacy of Jonathan Edwards in the Theology of Andrew Fuller, we read:
In terms of justification, Fuller embraced Edwards's view that justification and imputation were forensic, but representative rather than actual. Christ did not literally become a sinner, and we do not literally become righteous. Rather, God punishes Christ as though he were a sinner and relates to believers as though they were righteous. The language is metaphorical, and for both men, the central soteriological motif is union with Christ. Edwards has been criticized by some later Reformed thinkers for downplaying forensic justification. Not surprisingly, Fuller engaged in an extended controversy with his contemporary Abraham Booth over that very issue.
Christ Had To Be Put To Death In The Manner He Did As Described By Prophesy
Every part of Christ's death had to be planned.  Every word he uttered was predestined.  Every healing was ordained.  All the people he met were on a foreordained path he had to walk.

Fulfillment Of Even The Smallest Prophesy
Every jot and tittle of prophecy was fulfilled.  Again this is absolute predestination.

He Rules The World Down To The Number of our Hairs Counted And A Sparrow that Falling
God can only do this if he governs the whole world down to the minutest detail.  This is absolute predestination.

We will humbly quote Paul's words in Ephesians 1:
Eph. 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
We can read here that every spiritual blessing of the children of God is according to our election in Christ before the world ever began.  His love for us is based on this election that in his eyes we are blameless in love.  And this election is according to the predestination of us as children, which we were already (though being his enemies in time).  There was never a time when the Lord did not love his elect, even though they were his enemies and their carnal nature is enmity with God.  This predestination is centered in Christ.  We are one with him!  All the blessings come from this union with Christ!
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; 9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
So, I would ask, if predestination is not the supreme peg upon which all other doctrines hang, I would like to know what "other" doctrine does predestination not affect?
