THE ONLY THING OUR BIBLE HAS IS PREDESTINATION

This was a statement made towards me by some well-meaning brethren.  They meant no harm in it.  But it indicated a lack of understanding of the vast implications of a belief in the absolute predestination of God. We doubt they would view predestination in dire times of need, afflictions, and persecution as a side issue or a doctrine that can be overstated.

Introduction

An Exposition of the Mystery which was kept secret since the world began; wherein the Doctrine of the Holy Trinity is manifested in the Glory-Man, the Lord JESUS, and that Christ’s bearing the Iniquity of our Sin in his Sufferings was the Atonement he made to God for the Elect; set forth against the Socinian and Neonomian triumphs, and against some other Cowardly Professions. It is likewise demonstrated that an Interest in Christ is built alone upon the Free, Absolute, and Everlasting Love of the Father, Son, and Spirit, towards an elect Remnant in Christ Jesus, against the Arminians. And therein is some account given of the Mystery of the Elect and their Union in Christ Jesus before the Foundation of the World; proving that their Free Grace Union according to God’s Ancient Settlements was never, as to the Comprehensive and Supreme Relation of the elect in Jesus Christ destroyed by their Subordinate Nature-Fall in Adam. To these things is added a Vindication of the Excellency of God’s Free Grace against the whole Arminian Scheme. And lastly, the Spiritual Operations of the Holy Ghost are Vindicated, as the Immediate Spring, Life, and Source of all True Religion.

Dear editors.

I am enclosing a copy of a letter from Sister Dunlap. I wrote her and asked permission to send it to you for your consideration of publishing it in the Signs of the Times. She gave her consent. I consider her experience very rich.

Sister Dunlap stated in her reply to my letter that she had reread many of the old signs since their association, and had rejoiced with those who told their experiences and enjoyed so much many able writings by our ministers, and if someone should get a small part of the enjoyment from reading hers. That she had in reading. Said experiences, she would be glad.

CROWN HIM THE LORD OF ALL?

Is this hymn biblical?  What man or group of mortals has the authority to Crown Christ?  Any doctrine that does not put Jesus in the very center of all good works and actions of righteousness, or that gives any credit to men's actions is in error, and in its essence antichristian.
