II CORINTHIANS 12.2 (BEEBE)
We understand the apostle to be speaking of a vision which he had received of the Lord, some fourteen years before he wrote this epistle. “I knew a man in Christ about fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such a one caught up to the third heaven.”

II CORINTHIANS 11.2-3 (BEEBE)
“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so poor minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
NEWS ON ELDER LACKEY'S FUNERAL (SANTAMARIA)
Elder Lackey's Funeral will be held on January 5 at the Welsh Tract Meeting House. Visitation will be from 11AM-1PM with service following interment in the church graveyard. All are welcome. Here is more information from the funeral home in West Virginia:
Robert Neil Lackey, of Fairmont, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2023, he was 68.
He was born and raised in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where his love of music and history began at an early age, always eager to learn. After graduating from Sallisaw High School in 1973 he went on to study at Oklahoma Baptist University. He mastered the guitar, from country western, classical to flamenco, and in most recent years found much joy playing and teaching the dulcimer.
Robert’s devotion and love for the Lord was seen in many areas of his life. In his early years, this devotion took him to England and Wales, to research church history. He was an elder of Welsh Tract Old School Baptist Church in Newark, Delaware where he led services monthly in addition to weekly online bible studies.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lackey, and wife, Pat Lackey. He is survived by his mother, Polly Anna Lackey, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, special friend Elizabeth Grohgan of Fairmont, West Virginia, two aunts, numerous cousins, and beloved friends.
Services will be led by Elder John Napier on January 5, at 1pm, Welsh Tract Old School Baptist Church, Newark, Delaware, with burial immediately following in the church’s cemetery.
Flowers and condolences may be sent to Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes and Crematory, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, Delaware 19711.

II CORINNTHIANS 7.1 (BEEBE)
Brother Beebe: - As I have never troubled you much, will you give me your views on the words, “Godly sorrow worketh repentance,” etc. What is it that repents, the new man or the old man, or neither? Is the Christian constituted of three parts? The new man has nothing to repent of, and the old man will not.

II CORINTHIANS 3.7-8 (BEEBE)
“But if the ministration of death, written and engraved in stones, was glorious so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses, for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away; how shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?” – 2 Cor. iii. 7,8.

ECCLESIASTES 12.5 (BEEBE)
Brother Beebe: I am a stranger to you in the flesh, but hope that I am not a stranger in spirit. Please give your views on Eccl. 12.5? “Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail; because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets.”

II KINGS 20.1-6 (BEEBE)
Elder Beebe — Dear Brother: Will you, or some of your many correspondents, please explain II Kings 20:1-6. It has perplexed me for so long that I feel now that I must have an explanation of it. Yet knowing, as I do, how you must be daily harassed by such inquiries, I hesitate even now in sending my request. But if you, or any other kind brother, will grant me an answer, you will be favoring one who, at least, desires to know and to love the truth.

JONAH 1.5-6 (BEEBE)
If not asking too much, please give your views on Jonah I, 5,6: "Then the mariners were afraid, and cried every man to his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship, and he lay, and was fast asleep. So the shipmaster came to him, and said unto him, What meanest thou, O sleeper? arise, call upon thy God, if so be that God will think upon us, that we perish not."

I Kings 6.12 (BEEBE)
Elder Beebe - Dear Sir: If you will give your views, through the SIGNS, on 1 Kings vi. 12, you will much oblige me. Does it not convey the idea that there are conditions on the part of Solomon, which lies entirely to his choice, on his part, whether or not he will accept the warning given, to obtain the promise given in the thirteenth verse? And does it not also convey the idea that it is left entirely optional with Solomon, whether or not he will receive the counsel? This, with other similar passages, appears difficult for me to reconcile with absolute predestination, since there are numerous passages in the Scripture wherein the command, precept, or exhortation is given as if it were in the power of the creature to obey or not to obey. I only ask for information and would be glad of perusing an editorial from you on this subject.

JOHN 15.22-24 (BEEBE)
MUCH ESTEEMED BROTHER BEEBE: – I propose to ask you a question, which I would be glad to have you explain through the SIGNS. If the whole human family fell in Adam, and are under the law of sin and death, why did Christ say, In John xv. 22, 24, “If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.” “If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both mean me and my Father”?
You brother in Christ, as I hope,
JOHN MORSE.

ELDER GILBERT BEEBE – DEAR BROTHER: – Having been a reader of the SIGNS for forty-six years, and never having troubled you, I now request you to give your views on John xiv. 12, especially the last clause. I remain your brother in hope of eternal life.

JOHN 14.1-3 (BEEBE)
“Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

JOHN 13.14-15 (BEEBE)
Dear Brother Beebe: - I have received a great deal of comfort and satisfaction from the Signs of the Times, on different portions of the scriptures, and if it is not asking too much, I would like to have you give your views in full on John 13:14,15, and its connection. By doing so you will greatly oblige a well-wisher to the truth, though an unworthy sister, if a sister at all.

JOHN 10.23 (BEEBE)
AGREEABLY to the request of Brother Robbins, on another page, we will offer some remarks upon that part of our Lord’s parable embraced in the passage proposed for consideration, viz.: “But he that entereth in by the door is the Shepherd of the sheep; to him the porter openeth, and he calleth his own sheep by name and leadeth them out.”

JOHN 5.40 (BEEBE)
Elder Beebe: Will you oblige a friend by giving through the columns of your paper, your views on John v. 40? which reads as follows: “And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” Is not coming to Christ set forth as a condition, the fulfillment of which is requisite to the attainment of the life here mentioned? And can we not reasonably infer that by coming unto him aright, they whom he addressed might have secured this life? And lastly, does not the power of refusing to come unto Christ, herein attributed to his auditors, imply also the possession, on their part, of the power to come unto him?

JOHN 5.29 (BEEBE)
Very Dear and much esteemed Brother Beebe: It seems that I cannot do without your comforting paper, as I am situated where I cannot hear the Old School Baptists preach, or but very seldom see one of them. Will you please give your views on John 5:29. Some time ago this text got hold of my mind and seemed to worry me very much. “And shall come forth, they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” I seemed to be fully impressed that I had done nothing that was truly good, but I had done evil all my days.
Yours in much tribulation. Hargis Farthing. Newbern, N.C.

MY CHRISTIAN LIFE (SANTAMARIA)
I have read accounts from hymns and stories of the experiences of different Christians throughout time. Many of them are moving and dramatic. For example Paul’s experience. But I will try to relate mine lately. I have been through many highs and great lows with my Lord. Here is my present condition - ed.

JOEL 3.14-17 (BEEBE)
"Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people and the strength of the children of Israel. So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her anymore."
