Matthew 1:21 (KJV)
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Jesus saved, past tense. Jesus did not make a way to “get” saved, nor did he leave salvation contingent upon HIS people to finish the “deal” by acceptance or by learning.
Salvation was accomplished FOR us, OUTSIDE of us, before any of us, to be freely given to us and believed by us, through the work of the Spirit in us!
The legal act of saving (justification, sanctification, redemption, propitiation, expiation, reconciliation, and forgiveness) was all by Christ's finished work alone, once for all time, and for all His people.
The experience of salvation (repentance, faith, good works) while felt and exercised in every heavenly born child of grace, is also not of themselves, but the very work of Christ through His Spirit.
Salvation is all of Christ, by Christ, and for Christ! To HIM be glory alone!
