Compare these words to the modern notion of Progressive Sanctification - ed

Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He TAKETH AWAY the FIRST, that he MAY ESTABLISH the SECOND. By the WHICH WILL we are SANCTIFIED through the OFFERING of the BODY OF JESUS ……….. ONCE for ALL! 

The elect child of grace is not sanctified by their perpetual adherence to the law, their moral betterment, their appropriation of means, or show of religion, by conditions!!! The ones for whom Christ died were justified AND sanctified for all time by Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. All other “ways” are “not the way” and all other “gospels” are “not the gospel” They are man’s attempt to be like God, the temptation that began in the garden and continues today. The Father of Lies continues to slither his false hope of self-righteousness into the ears of mankind. His children will listen and do what their father says, trying to establish a righteousness of their own. 

However, when granted repentance and faith, the child of grace begins to listen and look to Christ alone as their justification and sanctification. They are given to know the depth of their sin, the inability to keep God’s law, even minutely, to see their flesh profits nothing, and are given hope in Christ alone as their salvation. Looking unto Jesus, the author and the finisher of our faith, which gospel is revealed from faith to faith! 

May God grant you rest in the person and work of His son!
