THE TWO HORNS, &C.
We are highly gratified with the favorable notice Brother J. Clark has taken, in his communication, page 12, of Brother Trott's proposals to re-publish Elder Parker's “Third Dose,” with structures on the objectionable parts of the same, and we sincerely hope brother Trott may be sustained in the undertaking by a liberal patronage.

"BUT PEACE SHALL BE UPON ISRAEL" (BEEBE) 1860
Dear Brother Beebe: I do not like to trouble you too much, but it seems so impressed on my mind that I cannot well avoid it; to ask your views on Psa. cxxv. 5, particularly on the latter clause, “but peace shall be upon Israel.” Penningtonville, Pa., Dec. 10, 1860.

BROTHER E.D. TURNER'S LETTER ON MINISTERIAL SUPPORT (BEEBE) 1858
On two points in Brother Turner’s letter, we wish to offer a few remarks, not by way of controversy, for with the general sentiments of his letter we think we are agreed, and probably on every point, when we fully understand each other.

BORN OF THE WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT: JOHN 3.5 (BEEBE) 1867
In our last issue, sister L. Fewell asked for our opinion as to the meaning of these words - whether the words, born of water, refer to baptism or to the action of the Holy Spirit.

Like so many Bible terms, the word GOSPEL has been given various definitions contrary to its original and proper meaning.

ABSOLUTE PREDESTINATION #4 (TROTT) 1834
Another objection urged against the doctrine of predestination is that it would involve the notion of the fatalists and destroy the free agency of man and consequently his accountability.

ABSOLUTE PREDESTINATION #3 (TROTT) 1834
Brother Beebe: – I will now notice some of the objections, which are made to the doctrine under consideration.

ABSOLUTE PREDESTINATION #1 (TROTT) 1832
THIS sentiment as expressed in the Prospectus of the “Signs of the Times,” has called forth so much invective from some, and so much ridicule from others of the popular Baptists of this region that one would conclude some strange and absurd idea had been advanced;

THE ATONEMENT (BEEBE) 1833
PERHAPS among all the rich displays of the adorable Godhead which shine forth with refulgent brightness in the works of creation, providence, and grace, none can be found to outshine in splendor, or outweigh in importance, that which develops the purpose and grace of God in causing his sword to awake against the Man that is his Fellow, and which sets forth the atonement made by our Lord Jesus Christ for his people.

BEEBS'S LAST THOUGHTS ON ASSOCIATIONS - ARE THEY FROM HEAVEN OR OF MEN? (1881)
DEAR BROTHER BEEBE: – Brother F. M. Turner, of Tuscaloosa, wishes me to ask you to give through the SIGNS the best views you have upon associations. The main point upon which he wants information is, Is there any spiritual authority for the present system of organized associations, as practiced by the Old School or Primitive Baptists? Did they originate with the ancient apostolic churches, or with and among Catholics? We want to know exactly what kind of an association is scriptural, or of divine authority. By writing on the above subject at your earliest convenience, you will greatly oblige at least two anxious inquirers. Yours in fellowship, H. J. RED

ASSOCIATIONS: REMARKS ON ELDER BLAKESLEE'S LETTER (BEEBE) 1863
It is not our desire or intention, either by special or common pleadings, to encourage a controversy on the subject of Associations, as, to our mind, there are many other subjects at this peculiarly trying time of vastly greater importance to the peace, comfort, and edification of the people of God, which claim our columns. Especially should we regret to enter the list with a veteran of the cross whom we so highly esteem as our Brother Blakeslee.

ASSOCIATIONS IN REPLY TO BROTHER ASMUS INQUIRY (BEEBE) 1863
What is an association? we answer The word signifies a connection formed of persons or things. When applied to Christians, in a religious sense, we understand it to signify a social band of the disciples of Christ in union, harmony, intimately organized on gospel principles, according to the laws of Christ, for mutual edification, in sweet communion and fellowship one with another.

AS MANY AS...(ELDER MIKAL SMITH)
In our English language, we have what we call a "quantifier". This is a word or phrase that expresses a specific quantity. For instance, if I said "the ones hired as janitors, cleaned."

In our last number we promised to notice the request of brother Burson, who desired our views on the subject of the absolute predestination of all things. We have frequently given our views on this subject, and still feel willing to give such views as we have on this and all other scriptural subjects.

“BAPTIST CONFESSION OF FAITH” (BEEBE) 1847 (NEW HAMPSHIRE CONFESSION OF FAITH)
[Among the many great articles the Lord enabled Beebe to write, this one is among the greatest. "In 1833, Baptists in the United States agreed upon a confession of faith around which they could organize a missionary society under the Triennial Convention. The New Hampshire Confession of Faith was drawn up by the Rev. John Newton Brown of New Hampshire and was adopted by the New Hampshire Baptist Convention." This is quoted from a wikisource that cites Wikipedia, but it has since been removed from Wikipedia. But we have little doubt that the Triennial Convention believed this confession and held to it. The Editor's Addendum at the end of this article will confirm this view. - ed.]
ABSOLUTE PREDESTINATION OF ALL THINGS 1
[This is the official position of The Welsh Tract Church and this website]
On this important part of the doctrine of Christ, we wish to be well understood, as we considered it a fundamental part of the faith of the Gospel. In the absence of this doctrine we can have no confidence in the predictions of the word of God.

BAPTISM - REBAPTISM 1856 (BEEBE)
Elder G. Beebe: - Suppose a member of the Missionary Baptist church, of undoubted piety, and sincerity in his attachment to your church, were to apply for admission, would you receive him, without rebaptizing him? What should an individual do who can have no fellowship with the various (so-called) benevolent enterprises of the day, and who still believes that the Old School Baptists have gone into error in reference to predestination, &c., and that they so hold and teach these doctrines as to produce bad practical results, supposing him to believe that salvation is whole of God, and that good works do not procure salvation, but ought to be constantly required of church members as a test of Christian character; and an evidence and the chief evidence, of being under grace? These questions are propounded in all honesty and sincerity, and with the purest motives, if a constant and intense desire to see the Baptist church what it has been, constitutes such motives; and I hope you will find it convenient and agreeable to answer them in your next issue of the SIGNS OF THE TIMES, and in so doing you will gratify one who has been for some time burdened with a sense of the terrible corruptions existing in the Christian world.
Tyro, Jan. 21, 1856, J.I. Power
A SWEET SAVOR OF CHRIST (BEEBE) 1839
BROTHER BEEBE: - Please give your views on 2 Cor. 2.15; and be particular on the last clause, in showing how we are a sweet savor of Christ in them that perish; of death unto death, &c., or otherwise set brother Trott at it. Respectfully yours,
REED BURRITT

BAPTISM 2 (BEEBE) 1868
Elder Beebe: - Is it according to the order of the gospel for an Old Baptist Church to receive as members those who have been baptized by any other denomination of religionists, not recognized by them as the church of Christ, without baptizing them in the fellowship of the Old Order of Baptists? Your views on the above will oblige

BAPTISM (BEEBE) 1863
Brother Beebe: - The Signs of the Times still continue to come as a welcome messenger to us, and we wish to have them continue to come as long as we can raise the money to pay for them. In your last you requested each subscriber to try to procure at least one additional subscriber, and I have done so. You will find the money enclosed, etc. Brother Beebe, I am going to trouble you for your opinion. I will name the circumstances: We had two Baptist preachers here last spring, and there are five or six Baptist members here - but they are not organized in a church - and there were one or two who wished to be baptized, but the members, under present circumstances, did not wish to go into a constitution. Now, would it have been right or wrong for one of those preachers to have baptized those persons, if they had given him a satisfactory evidence of their hope in Christ? I would like to have your opinion on the subject.

REMARKS ON AN EDITORIAL IN THE INDEX BY EDITOR STOKES 1839 (BEEBE)
